We seek to publish rigorous research and critical essays that bridge classical Islamic thought with modern academic discourse.

The word imtihan comes from the Arabic imtahana-yamtahinu-imtihan which means test. The term imtihan is certainly no longer something foreign to students in Islamic Education. This term, which was adopted from Arabic, seems to be very familiar in Islamic boarding schools and has grass roots among students. Imtihan is one of the mandatory agendas in Islamic boarding schools which contains tests of students' abilities in terms of learning. The concept of imtihan in the Al-Qur'an is a test or trial which is a provision that has been set by Allah for His servants. In life, every human being will not be free from tests or trials.
